This is mebbe a a bit off topic and for the long termers...anybody know of a GOOD and CHEAP-ish import food store in Tokyo ?
Mainly looking for "Bisto Gravy Granules" (Chicken and Beef) and pickled onions (Have found a shop that sells German ones but the jars are tiny and at 300 yen a pop a bit expensive)
For those that havent experienced it there is a great sunday market at Ueno selling bulk packs of european and indian herbs and spices for great prices.

You do know about FBC's Brit Shop? http://brit.fbcusa.com/
You can get the Bisto for sure (I've got the roast chicken one in my cupboard!)
I can't say if they are the cheapest places, but I like to shop at Costco in Makuhari, National Azabu near Hiroo Station, Hanamasa (chain store), and Tanakaya near Mejiro Station. I haven't been there in a while but the World Import Market in Sunshine, Ikebukuro is supposed to be good. There are so many places these days. The main trouble is consistency. You get used to buying something at one place and then suddenly they stop selling it.
As for the pickled onions, you may be able to just do your own. That would be the cheapest thing to do.
Best

You should check out YAMAYA ... It's great! Import food, lots of different wines... And REALLY CHEAP!
There's a branch in Nishi Shinjuku, Ikebukuro (definitely) and Shibuya and Akasaka (I think).

There's also one of these, inexplicably, out in the sticks in Mie ken too. |

Glad you liked the site. Be careful around Christmas time it is really easy to go overboard with the mince pies and other goodies!
