There's a recruitment agency called ESL ASIA that finds good-paying jobs in Japan. Problem is they require teachers to pay $250 for a recruitment fee and then 1/4 of the first paycheck.
Has anyone had dealings with them? Can they be trusted?

I asked the same question and found bad news in the tiawan section, and here on japan. Looks like they take your money and your documents and dont get back to you. i got out too early to eb sure, but definately it seemed fishy and there are confirmations of that on line ehre.

And the jobs look too good to be true. be very careful

In Japan it just isn't necessary. Small schools need only advertise online (or localy in expat magazines), and the large schools do their own recriuting.
