One anonymous poster attempting to call out another anonymous poster. I love it!
Actually the bro yo choudoufu has quite the post history, making him not-so-quite-anonymous.
But really, who are you RWA1981, and why should we believe you?
For the record, high post counts have nothing to do with intelligence as you falsely thought that's what I meant in that since-locked thread (re: CUCAS), but they do have everything to do with a record of history and accountability.
Warm regards,

RWA1981:
Forget the websites. Look at hundreds of contracts, then form an opinion worth expressing. You're getting nowhere with the tired ol' websites. |

You are definitely not legit! You must have a hidden agenda! Look at my "completely independent" websites for proof!!!!
Nobody is buying it. You might as well give up.
I save a ton of money here. If I told you, you wouldn't believe me. I have a pretty easy life with more vacation than I know what to do with. There is no doubt I am overpaid for what I do. Sorry you couldn't hack it in China. |

| I know it must have been covered before, but how does one go about finding these uni jobs? I don't see any or many advertised here, and the one recruiter I've been in contact with says they pay too low for him to waste his time. Should I just come and get any job and then look for a uni position once there? Sorry if I'm highjacking this thread. Maybe if someone could just paste another thread's url. Thanks. |

Jobs of all sorts and LOTS of university jobs: esljobs.com or abroadchina.org.
http://www.esljobs.com/job-category/china/
http://www.abroadchina.org/
You don't need to sign in to see the jobs for abroadchina. Just choose the area in which you want to investigate, then hit "Search Job". "Anywhere" will let you see jobs in all provinces. |

"she" is a recruiter, but seems to have a good rep (for recruiters).
i've heard no negatives. ting shuo she has some connection with
the government, so is able to offer more 'no degree/no experience'
university positions. just a rumour, tho.
you can always start with her info, contact the school direct. |

It is assumed that nobody watches the FTs or monitors him. The class monitor reports to the class work leader (usually a CT or a low-level admin) who reports to the department who reports to the FAO who reports to the City FAO. At least, that's how it is expected to work. Sometimes the real snitch is the best speaker in the class.
Every test, every handout, and the notes you put on the board is scrutinized by someone. (If your work is really good, they're copied and used by CTs). One who works in a public university but doesn't believe this probably does not speak to his FAO or the FAO isn't communicative. The slouches who constitute an embarrassing percentage of the university foreign teachers remain because the FAO can't replace them, or the school rationalize that having a bad FT there is better than having no FT. Often, the department needs to park the students for an hour or so during the day; the FT comes in handy for this. |
Maybe at your university. At mine, no one cares what the FT does. One of the teachers at my school, for his final exam, makes the students sing a song. Another one shows movies half the time. We also have a Russian girl who speaks mediocre English teaching English.
I'm damn near positive no one in the department pays attention at all. Aside from the secretary giving me my scheduel, I've seriously had 2 conversations with people in the department since I've worked here. I've worked here for four years. Our department's dean is commonly known to be a bribe/guanxi hire and has no administration skills or knowledge. Our FAO, who I think also was a guanxi hire, has a feud with the dean and so there's no communication between the FAO (who hires and fires people) and the foreign language department. And you know what? Nothing seems to have come of this or resulted from it at all.
Yeah I don't work at a great school. Who cares? Pay is the same as better universities, better in some ways (better airfare comp and full 12 months of pay for 8-9 months of work).
Also, unless you are working at Beida, Qinghua, or a few other schools, 'well-ranked' schools in China are still just havens of bribery and cheating... they just have bigger bribes and more skilled cheats. Sorry, but it's true. It cracks me up when a foreign teacher or a student gets smug about working at the number 2 university in blahblah province. |

Mr. Buttkins:
I believe everything you say. I worked at a school like your present school. As long as I showed up for class on time and acted like i was doing something, nobody cared. In fact, I changed my class schedule to give myself and the students a three-day weekend. Nobody said boo.
The only comments I got from administration at that school was when i got fed up with a couple of idiots who wouldn't shut up. I walked out to the guard shack at the gate and asked two guards to remove the students.
I DID get comments from two Chinese teachers who somehow got hold of several of my handouts. They told me that they wanted to use my work in their classes.
I think that in some universities, the Foreign Teachers' classes are no more than time killers, and the students know it. That's why so many "Oral English" classes are such a joke. You'll have forty-two students in a class and no time for anyone to speak. It also explains why some complete screwballs remain at some universities for so long.
Someone is always watching, but do they always care?
In one school, the dean of foreign languages was very interested in what I was doing, and she and i had a regular meetings on Thursdays to discuss what she and i were doing in our classes. I reviewed her power point presentations, and she reviewed my lesson plans and handouts. That was not a typical situation, but it did show me that SOME administrators actually care.
The FTs that just show up for class day after day, prepare nothing for class, and don't even read the book are grossly overpaid. |
