I've seen some adverts by Kaplan for EAP teachers. Pay seems pretty good. They recruit through a UK university. I know they have a reputation for tutoring and test prep in the US.
Has anyone worked for them in China? |

Kaplan have International Foundation Year (IFY) and Pre Masters Programmes (PMP) moderated by and linked to the Northern Consortium UK (NCUK)
This is a partnership and NCUK has other providers in China for their courses.
Kaplan China also run their own courses(SAT, A level etc) alongside these.
The contract for China is OK. You can PM me with any questions if you like.

A friend of a friend worked for them and had no complaints. |

Go to some sites like glassdoor.com or Linked In and you will hear a lot of bad things about Kaplan.
Personally, I was hired by them to teach ESL for foreign exchange students in Calif. Once they found out I didn't have a car, they assigned me as their "substitute" teacher. Total work time: 4 days. They promised me I would work for 4 weeks.
I picked up some extra cash by selling one of their textbooks online. No, they didn't give me any textbooks. |

No, but think of it this way:
if they treat Americans like crap with the protection of labor laws in the USA, how will they treat employees in China without such laws? |

Well, after all, Kaplan does rhyme with Kr@plan.
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
