If one leaves their job in Saudi Arabia within the 3 months trial period, do they have to go through the whole VISA process again to work for a different job? Actually, are you even able to transfer jobs?

Leave and start again. Transferring the Iqama is a theoretical possibility, but almost unheard of in the real world.

Check your contract---it should mention termination of employment (by either party) during the probation period. As Scot47 said, transferring jobs during this timeframe pretty much entails departing KSA and reapplying with other potential employers while on your home soil.

In regard to going through the whole process, I believe the med test results are good for 3 months and the criminal background report for 6 months from issuance date. So be prepared to do those pesky med tests again---costs and all---by the time your new employer gets the initial visa request paperwork done at their end. Your degree authentication request may have to be resubmitted to reflect any new sponsorship (employer). But yes, you'd have to go through the process again.

If you leave during your probationary period, you wouldn't have worked long enough for an employment verification letter nor NOC. Depending on where you are in the iqama process (especially if you haven't gotten your passport back) and number of days left on your employment visa (for entering the country), you may/may not need an exit visa, so should check with HR on that. If you arrived in country on a business visit visa, you simply leave before the visa's expiration date.

Some employers still ask for the LONO (or NOC) even though it is no longer a legal requirement. When I left in 1991 I had to wait until 1996 to get back !

You are welcome. Over my years of posting here I have become accustomed to being ignored, spurned and insulted !

Dear scot47,

"Over my years of posting here I have become accustomed to being ignored, spurned and insulted !."

Becoming used to those is one of the side-benefits - not only to posting here but especially to teaching in Saudi.

Regards,
John
