Hi there,

Looking for info on work opportunities. Many of the posts seem to say that coming first and then finding the work is the best option. We are travelling with our four-year-old, which does tend to make us want a bit of security in terms of working/income.

I have an MA (Applied Linguistics), a CELTA and nearly three years experience, but my partner has only taught music (and sound engineering!), so what are the chances of us finding work quickly? (I'm intending to be the main source of income, but he wants to work part-time at some stage). Is it likely that we can afford to live on 1.5 wages (plus some income from home) or possibly 1 wage for a short time? If so how long? We were thinking of being in Hanoi or HCMC as it appears that this is where the work is.

Any thoughts are welcome, as we were thinking of Japan but after some discussions decoded to put this off for a bit longer.

There was a couple who came from Japan doing the very same thing. They said they were going to stay for 6 months, but were here for over a year. I'll forward this thread to them and see what they have to say.
