Several of you are not going to remain on the active list of members if you continue with the off-topic, insulting, confrontational and otherwise inappropriate postings. If you don't have something helpful to contribute, take your personal agendas elsewhere before the decision is made for you.
I kid you not.

While I have seen adverts requesting Native Speakers to apply ..... I have never seen a contract that altered pay or benefits for co workers who worked along side someone.
svaldezi, this native speaker thing comes up now (as does the Wu Mao and recruiter accusations by those who have less substance to base a legitimate answer) and then as if those who hold certain passports can pass judgment based on that one fact alone.....while employers have the ability to hold nationality over the head of requirements from employment, FT's and Davesters should not...either way, those that have to consider if your worthy due to a native tongue are often not really interested in giving advice.... and what the heck.. tell em your are a native speaker and then in the next post tell em you aren't....let them compose answers based on discouraging you from thinking that a non-native has the right to anything resembling a ESL job....
Advice given by those like FC is sincere and often time right on the button. |

Excellent post! Thank you NoBillyNo! I have been following FC for a while now. I always feel like he gives the best answers and is always straight with everybody. I think SADLY I'm learning that the ESL world is a full picture of the world we live in. Plenty of Jerks, scammers, and very greedy people. Due to my own lack of diligence, experience and really just learning the ropes the hard way. I have almost been scammed twice. I came to Dave's board to learn the contract ways and hopefully finally get established in this career. |

6k / 8k for 40hrs p/w farmed out to kindies n mills around the big choke. I certainly wouldn't bother with that at all! At twice that pay it'd still be underpaid compared to legit gigs. I would be stunned if they can legally hire foreigners (Z visa & work permit).
Edit : just read the bit about they will keep 2k per month of your peanut allowance for the first 3 months! FFS! Bin that trash! |
Seconded. Indeed, bin that trash.
Warm regards,

Yup. Thirded. 40+ hours/wk for 6K. Nope. I'm doing 16 hrs for 8k with 12k ticket and one month bonus at EOC, plus half pay on summer AND winter vacs if I sign for yr 2.
The witholding of 2k/month is a dead giveaway that it's a scam agency job.
Run, don't walk. |
