Well, this is China. "Frequently" is relative. It doesn't take a very high percentage of primary schools recruiting to add up to a lot of job offers in absolute terms if you take the country in aggregate.
Still, my opinions are just observations and guesses based on limited experience and talking to my kids: most of them didn't have a foreign teacher in elementary or middle school. If I have it wrong, I'm always happy to learn more. I imagine things do vary a lot from province to province. |

I have heard that language mills generally require you to work long hours. So how is it that some people work at a university + part time at a language mill? How does that work? Is that preferable to working full-time at a language mill?
Also, is there such thing as a private primary/secondary school apart from a language mill? Based on what I've read, people seem to only talk about public primary/secondary schools vs. private language mills, but not private primary/secondary schools. What would be the difference between public vs. private primary/secondary schools? |

People who work at universities and then language mills on the side most often work at the mills for a few hours a week. Just something extra to boost their income. I suppose, it is possible to work full time at both as language mills usually work evenings and weekends, whereas unis don't. But part-time at the mills is much more common.
Yes, there are private schools. Their requirements are usually higher though. |
