The building where I live houses about 40 foreign teachers. Yesterday when I got home about 8:00pm there were about 20 of them outside and the mood was not good. From what I gleaned from the conversation, this is what I understood took place.

12 FTs were visited after 7:00pm at their apartments and escorted away. They were not in handcuffs, and they were told they were going to be questioned. Why? Supposedly the PSB visited a well-known school "affiliated" with BFSU for a visa check. They then made the teachers pee in cup for a random drug test. Three of those teachers were taken away. Two of them live in my building.

What do you think happened? Are any of you living in my building affected by this? Is this a visa or drug problem? Are you obligated to to pee in a cup here in China. No, I don't do drugs and would have no problem with the request, but I never heard about this happening before in China.

I am so glad I finally got my Z visa.

What city was this? I imagine it is drug related due to the random drug testing. I do not think the police can force you to pee in a cup. A similar thing is happening in Japan where cops are randomly stopping foreigners on the street and demanding a drug test, you can refuse. Id MAYBE cooperate as I do not do drugs, but I would demand to see a warrant.

Demand to see a warrant? Laughing Sure, and while you're waiting for that warrant to appear just pull out your pocket copy of the Chinese constitution and point out to those nice policemen where it says that they have no right to stop you and search you.

After a dehydrated semi-booze induced sleep and 3 cups of coffee this morning I pity the fool who would want to collect a cupful of my pee.

The BFSU "affiliated" suplemental learning school is located in Haidian about 1km South of BFSU. I don;t know that they can "force" anyone to pee anywhere but I imagine if you say "Bu xie xie" it would be taken as a sign you have something to hide. There are no 5th Amendment rights in China you know.

Two things:

1) Stop and Frisk

2) Multiple forces enemas and a colonoscopy:

My source on this is credible. In 2015 the PSB will start random drug testing on expats in China who hold Z visas and for those applying for marriage licenses. My source is a relative of a senior PSB official who I have known for almost 2 years and this person had also clued me in on the new criminal check requirement four months before it was announced. Anyway, there was some "incident" of a landlord who caught a foreigner growing two dozen Mary Jane plants in the extra bedroom and turned him in. Suposedly this one bust led to 300+ buyers not getting their visas renewed and like most of them were ESL teachers. I wonder how "random" the testing will be and also am curious to know if the Chinese government currently does any random drug testing of their own citizens?

Anytime an article starts "My source is credible" I have already shut down. Anyone who has any intelligence knows it will be followed by hearsay and innuendo. Don't be so gullible people. We have all fed from the BS machine this guy has spewed. Move on....nothing to see here.....

You apparently can't read or are a "scanner". I did not claim any "sources" these are my neighbors - all expat teachers. Our other neighbors from the same building were escorted away in front of a good size crowd. I arrived at the tale end of it all. Further, one of my teaching colleagues is AWOL today and is one of the 12 FTs rounded up from the building last night.

And as you are reading this right now my TA tells me that there is something going on right now at BCLU with the PSB and "foreign tutors" right now.

But since you know everything, I will let you give all the updates from herein and sit back and just listen.

Anyone remember a character on this board whose screen name initials were H.F.G.?

RWA1984's obsession and increasingly wild stories remind me of him.
