|
|
From another thread:
"...do you know about the pain that finding an apartment in Bogota is. Just as a heads up, most places want a Colombian who makes like twice the amount of your rent to cosign with you, which, unless you know someone here, is basically impossible to find...
So this question is aimed at those who are already in Bogota, Medellin or Cali: how did you go about finding stable housing? Did you have to remain at a hostel for months on end while teaching? Do expats share housing as people do in San Francisco, NYC and elsewhere?
What's the best way to deal with this?
Thanks. |

Thanks.
Is the usual situation for newly arriving ESL teachers to get a one-room apartment, which I've been informed is hard to do, or do groups of expats share places the way people do in Brooklyn, the San Francisco Bay Area, and elsewhere? |

How much is rent?
When I was in Popayan, I saw 2 apartments- one was an upstairs remodeled apartment with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and the rent was 250,000 cop. The other one I saw was a villa-style house about 3 blocks from the downtown area- 6 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which rented for 1.6 million cop.
Also how does the system work? |

Thanks for that link to compartoapto.com.
Have people on this forum used it? If so, what were your results? |

Compartapto was the only thing I used to secure housing in Colombia. It was extremely helpful. |

Find a Colombian girlfriend/boyfriend.
Makes the process a lot easier. |
