I met a couple of guys who worked in Taif... most boring place on earth. They teach... go to the gym... eat.. sleep.

Same for most of country.

At one point, I was in the interview process for Al Hada International School in Al Hada, which is a suburb of Taif. (Ultimately, I couldn't be offered the position since they could not provide adequate housing for male teachers, even though I would have gotten the position otherwise).

From what I studied, Taif is not quite in the sticks, but it's nothing like the metropolitan areas of Riyadh or Jeddah. In general, there isn't a great deal of information on Taif available online, though if you're seeking employment at Taif University, you may find more information that is useful.

Here is some information from Al Hada International School's website (regarding life in Taif) that you may find helpful:

Good hunting!

I know someone who is there. He says that the weather is nicer than in the East. He also says that it is full of hills and dudes.

I like Taif. It's small, but has good weather for Saudi. It has King Abdulaziz's old summer palace, now open to the public. They chose it for the summer for a good reason, the weather and hills. The airport is very far from the downtown. Has a pretty good souk area. It's a couple hours drive from Jeddah, and close to Mecca if you're Muslim.

Did you mean "isn't"? It's less than 20 minutes, I'd say...

My family and I quite like the Ta'if/ Hada area. As previously stated. its climate is glorious and its a fantastic contrast from the city landscape of Jeddah or Makkah.

"Lots of baboons (animal kind)!"

And, of course, we humans are animals.

I visted Taif a few times, but many years ago. I liked the scenery/landscape, and the inhabitants seemed very friendly, but, as has been mentioned, it doesn't have many of the outside diversions of Jeddah or Riyadh - although it probably has more of those than when I was there, back in the mid-80s.

If you're self-sufficient and don't require those much, it could be OK.

Here are some photos:

and this:

The airport is only 15 - 20 km northeast of the city

You can get weather info here:

http://www.accuweather.com/en/sa/taif/299428/july-weather/299428

and you can choose all the other months, as well.

Regards,
John

I liked it. Beautiful scenery, great mountains, people were gentler.
