Anyone with experience with lawyers on the board? If so, I would like to know if you could recommend a good contract lawyer.
Thanks! |

Well, there's Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe.
Seriously, just look up "legal services contract law" in your area. Be aware the advice won't be free. |

That was my first thought... although knowing those two, they lifted that from some comedian.

Old skool comedians from way back, like the Three Stooges, Marx Bros, etc. More recently, there's "Dewey, Screwum, & Howe." Hmm... That would be a good name for a contracting company. |

Ah, fellow NPR fans:-)
Sorry, I don't know any lawyers from the Kingdom region, where presumably the OP has had a problem that requires a lawyer.... |

If you check this poster's history, he's a newbie who has asked about a thousand basic questions while never giving one detail about himself. Many suspect he is writing a paper for some class... hard to know... LOL
Looks to me like he thinks that he is going to get a contract to peruse... with a lawyer... before going to the Middle East. But the dearth of useful posts here probably answers the question.
Personally I never saw a contract until well after my arrival. A few employers send "contracts" these days, but invariably once the teacher arrives, there is a new contract... the one that matters. The Arabic copy is the only one that matters anyway. And none of it is enforceable outside the Gulf. I looked at contracts as something that teachers had to follow, while the employers could do as they wish... and damn little we can do about it. Consulting with someone in one's own country before going is about as useful as flushing the money down the toilet.
I used the theory of choosing my employers carefully so I knew their track record.

Yasuke's demonstrating some considerable naivety if s/he thinks that having a lawyer examine any prospective contract is going to help him/her when things go down the pan in Saudi |

That's basically the advice an upright lawyer will charge Yasuke for. Fair enough! |
