Well they seem to be doing a lot of recruiting for Mecca and also buraydah. Salary seems good although I just assume they're struggling because it's a new contract.

For Mecca, they'll be hiring Muslims only so (maybe slightly difficult to recruit en masse).

Why are there so many horror stories?

I don't think they'll be hiring Muslims only as the college is outside the boundary. But they do state the accommodation will be in Jeddah

Same with the female college in Medina.

It sounds like any other gig in KSA. At least with TQ staff are paid well and live in a nice compound (in buraydah)

I was merely saying that for non-Muslims it is usually difficult and yes all gigs are the same

So point made and finished! Razz

Have you SEEN the traffic on that Jeddah-Mecca road ? A dreadful commute, although many do it daily.

I used to commute 3 times week to Mecca. Saudis driving with the newspaper open on the steering wheel, kids climbing all over the place.

Good luck!

That's why if I was to take this gig with TQ I'd request to work in buraydah instead of Mecca.

Travelling for long periods especially after a hard day at work is not my cup of tea

I always tried to find a job where there was a minimal need to travel by car ! KFUPM was good since we lived on campus.

While working at Saudi Airlines we had a joke about the proposed new advertising slogan.

Instead of

"Proud to serve you !"

we suggested

"You have seen us drive : now watch us fly !"

A nice compound makes it unlike any other gig in the KSA. Be careful though, "compounds" very somewhat. If Amerrycan is coming to the KSA, this job may be a lot better than the others. That is if the compound is a real compound with a pool and small restaurants etc. and not just some crap apartment they refer to as a compound.

Nice compounds ? I lived in two nice places -

Saudia City in Khaledeya, Jeddah. Huge Compound for Airline employees and their families.

KFUPM - a campus rather than a compound but nice.

I also lived in some dire, dirty and dangerous places off-compound !

anyone have any idea about getting accomodation using the allowance they give you? is there any option to at least live near the college to avoid the commute?

also, if you dont maintain attendance levels if students report you for trying to keep them in the class ( maintaining attendance levels ), how does that affect you if you are only there to teach?

thanks
