The maximum allowance at mine is 8,000y. That used to be sufficient but of late procuring a return flight for under that has proved difficult.

I got a ticket home this past summer for 6,700y. One stop each way and a three hour layover at each one, so not too bad. Direct flight would have cost me another $500, so for the sake of a few hours I saved a lot. When booking search a few different sites and check ticket prices throughout the day because they vary by a few hundred $ at different times.

At the uni, our pay was deposited around the 17th of the month. The semester ended July 29th. When mid August rolled around and I was travelling prior to returning home I checked my account and it was then that I learned I didn't received the travel allowance or end of year contract. Contacting the less than pleasant office staff has resulted in nothing.

The other teacher I found out with held final grades, in spite of pressure on behalf of students, until he got paid. He apparently had spoken to others that had worked at the uni previously.
