By now many of you will know your rota for the upcoming term
Can anyone top two classes per week (2 x 90 minute double periods)? |

Got my full teaching schedule for the coming semester a week before the end of last semester! My uni has improved their forward planning with each semester, so I'm very happy about that. twelve hours of classes, but only two subjects, so only two lessons to plan,, one of which I've taught already so I still have the lesson plans and materials. A nice semester ahead I think. |

Wang it will in all probability remain that the entire year.
Sadly it isn't my schedule but one of my colleagues who teaches French majors. I have 7 classes (double periods) and will lose two on graduation after ten weeks so I am not complaining. |

Twenty-two 40 minute E classes per week and 2 coaching classes after-school paid extra for. Life is good. |

Mmmm..
If you are at a public uni, you might get an updated schedule after the freshmen have done their military training.
Good to see advanced scheduling coming to the fore.
Best I've had, is getting the schedule on the Sunday night before classes on the first Monday in Sept. |

Yes a public uni but the freshmen classes are already on the rotas. I know because it is my year for them and they are listed as from week 2. Incidentally, we have always had the schedules online a couple of weeks before term starts although last time I had the new students they never appeared on my list until they were marching up and down. |

I always have my timetable in hand well before the term begins, and if I didn't I can check the school site to find out. My problem with scheduling here is having classes start on a Wednesday or Thursday so for the first "week" you end up having to do some kind of filler lesson just so you can keep everyone on the same page. It gets more screwed up as there's a holiday almost immediately after we begin this year too, Mid-Autumn Festival from 6-8 September, and followed three weeks later by another week long holiday for which the Chinese makeup-class formula will be applied. |

No. The answer would be because of student numbers (French, Japanese and Korean are also taught here and are not as popular as English) and it may be construed wrongly.
They just might consider a complaint was being made and with only three westerners here we like to show a united front. |

We should all study French. Why is that important? I could teach Spanish (elementary as if there would be anything else here). Had a few students who studied other languages. Ask them a few questions and see the confusion.
I am speaking from what I have seen. Other places are different, so I do not intend to say this is absolute. |

I have 10x45 minute classes / week for the first month or so, then it goes up to 12 or so after that for another few weeks and then peaks at 15 for around a month and then back to 10. Some kindliness person thoughtfully scheduled me to start at 8am every day so there is currently an ebola-laden voodoo doll being constructed in their name, but it's not too bad to be finished by 9.30ish 3 days a week. Maybe.
Interestingly (for me) my schedule has me finishing at week 16 which is around mid December. Somewhat odd since I didn't think New Year / Spring Festival is until mid~late February this year.
I guess (hope) I'm getting a longer winter vacation than usual. |
