Why are you turning this into a Japan vs the middle east debate?
No one said Japan had a perfect track record of equal rights.

It's well documented that many immigrants, expecially in the UAE are lured into the country on false promises, then when they get there have their passports taken away from them and are paid way less than promised while living in dangerously crowded and unhygenic conditions, meaning they can never afford enough for the airfare home.
I've even met arabs who've lived in the UAE who have told me this and said that it's getting so crazy you have to be careful when driving for fear of some poor immigrant with no hope throwing themselves infront of your car. Why do this? Because regardless of who's fault it is, the driver is legally obligated to pay a large sum of compensation to the victim's family.
Anyway, personally I couldn't care less, I'll fly with whoever's cheapest regardless of their human rights record. Just saying, slavery like conditions do exist and are a reality for many foreign workers in the middle east, and to deny it is ignorant. |

| I've found that Singapore airlines has the best service. The food is OKish, and the beer flows like, uh, wine. I try to use them when I take my 14 hour flight home. If the flight is under 5 hours, I am much less picky about who I fly with. |

Just to clarify my stance for my good friend Shimokitazawa.
I don't care about the morals of any companies. If I was to try and boycott every immoral company or company with links to immoral practices, that i didn't agree with then I'd never be able to buy anything, let alone fly anywhere.
Japan: See previous poster
Middle East: As above.
America: According to fairly recent figures, well over a million Iraqis have lost their lives due to the coalition invasion. Definitely one of the most evil acts in the last 50 or so years if you ask me. Not to mention all the other Wars and conflicts America has/has had their hands in.
Britain: (as above)
China: I don't think I need to even bother giving a reason, sure you've heard a few.
Australia: Heard of Nauru? Australia holds thousands of immigrants there in concentration camp like conditions.
Anyway, you see where I'm going with this. So which holier than thou country's airlines do you recommend? Do they fly to every country that I might ever wish to visit? |

Now that you mention them, I am surprised that they did not make the list. It is a short list though. Maybe they were #11.
Singapore Airlines has great service (kind flight attendants, pretty good food, and very good in-flight entertainment). However, this is a safety list, not a service list. Who knows why they didn't make the top ten? |

As I said earlier. With few accidents one incident even 30 years ago can bring down the averages. So I think older airlines may get hurt by that.
Anyhow the article has no data to offer so I dunno |
