Howdy all.

Well, the good news is that I finally get to make a return trip to Istanbul! I can't wait. The Theodosian Walls and the Golden Gate beckon.

The bad news - I've never really been to Istanbul as a tourist Confused Hehe, I think I still have the keys to my old flat, but I don't think that'd go over so well. Any recommendations for moderately priced (dare I say cheap) AND clean places? In Sultanahmet?

If anyone's going to be around next week, let me know.

I'm off to Sofia at the weekend, but I'll be back on Sunday.

Any hotel/hostel recommendations?

I usually prefer to stay at the hostels in Sultanahmet. Prices range anywhere from 6 to 20 milyon (depending on hostel, your age, the attitude of the person at the desk, etc.) and the rooms are clean - in most cases.

Enjoy.

Thanks sweetpea!

Yes, I'll definitely be staying in Sultanahmet. I thought about going a step above the hostels, but the price is hard to beat.

In the past, I've benefited only from some of their rooftop bars - great views of the Marmara. Any specific hostels you'd recommend...I'm getting older, so private room private bath does have its appeal!
