| If the man wants to do some extra work, let him do it, and power to him. No need to use the "go home" expression. It has a terribly puerile ring to it. |

Like I said...No disrespect to anyone, even if it came across that way.
Think MIKE W hit it on the head...that was my feeling and why I posted my obnoxious POV.

Mr. Newmansone, I think you missed the word
. If you talk about a characteristic or situation bordering on something, usually something that you consider bad, you mean that it is almost that thing. |
With or without the word (which I did see and read) the implication means nothing more than what I replied with (with which I replied). Bordering on is a cowardly way out of accepting responsibility for what you say and a way to back out of claiming something. Say it or don't say. There is not "in between" ... criminal or not - pregnant or not. Pick one and stand by it. |

Everyone is right, it doesn't matter WHAT the law says.
Let me give you an example.
I was called to the police office and told to pay 1000 RMB for moonlighting. I knew I hadn't so I asked for proof, they pulled up an English school opened by a former friend who had posted my pictures all over, from when I had worked for him 2-3 years ago.
I explained it, and he said I still must pay.
'Ah, but can I appeal?'
'Of course you can by law in China!.'
So, happy as Larry the next day I returned with a letter stating I wished to appeal to the local court.
No problems right?
Except, another friend knows the policeman's boss, and basically, because I'd made them lose face by not simply saying 'sorry' and paying, i I had pushed it all the way to court, there would be a 3 or 4 month delay. No problem right? EXCEPT, that had I gone down that route, the policeman informed my friend they would simply cancel my visa and have me gone before it could even reach the court...
What could I do except pay the fine? |

| I recently had an argument with my employer who threatened to withhold my pay unless I stopped tutoring some uni students who were preparing for IELTS exams to get their post graduate degrees overseas. I consulted a labor attorney who for 500 yuan photocopied the law book for me - the section about my right to hold two or more jobs. I gave it to my boss and never heard another peep from him again. And I got paid on time. |
