One thing I can say is that the publishers will act as they are losing money. Legal action has been taken in the past. This is not the key issue but a start. Hopefully the OAAA will start to take action on these diploma mills and perhaps you should send anything you have to them. |

AAnas, I feel your anguish regarding U of B beyond the current academic and administrative issues there. You must have experienced some real maltreatment, and unfortunately, yours does not seem to be an isolated case. If you are going for the vendetta route, externally shaming them through a media outlet would probably get some reaction on their part to improve or have the appearance of improving in the short run. However, it may be possible to just feel satisfied with knowing you did the best for your students and made a difference with them while serving as an educator.
There are many problems here with the education system that come out professionally (later when the students enter the work force) that Oman will have to deal with and learn from. For example, last week, Shabiba newspaper published a front page story about the Omani education system that turned out to be a exact copy/paste from an article in a Qatari newspaper about the Qatari Department of Education- only the teacher's names were changed to Omani names by the reporter. Shabiba actually had to publish a correction. If you read Arabic, check it out.

I think you're referring to the guy who was an employee of ELS/ITES (the private agency formerly in charge of the GFP at UoB) who was transferred to Sur, unless I'm mistaken. |
I believe you are NOT mistaken. But UoB isn't the only place in the ME in which one will need to be at least a 3rd degree blackbelt or have the FBI / Interpol on speed dial. |
