I have a job offer close to Dammam, just wondering how is living there? I have about 1500USD to find a place, what can you find for that? I was told a nice 2 bd apartment. Do places have a gym, jogging, pool? Are places generally very quiet? How is the general cost of living, safety, going out, eating out, etc. Quiet is the big one, very quiet preferred.

Thanks

Alarm bells would ring for me if the employer is not providing accommodation or at least helping with the search.

Do an Internet search using living in Dammam; it brings up quite a few links on the subject.

It's really not very hard finding decent furnished apartments here, and 1500 USD is more than enough.

Not everyone needs tucking into bed at night scot. Smile

Good. Would that be a nice place to western standards (whatever that means, some sort of interior decor...). Oh yes the employer is footing the bill.

Good luck. You might need it. Do not underestimate the villainy and rapaciousness of Estate Agents.

I live in Khobar, my place was brand new when I moved in. My own place is very nice and has a restaurant, pool, gym, games room, etc, etc.

Myself and lots of co-workers skipped the estate agent route, and found a place either through colleagues or (in my case) pounding the pavements.

Good luck. Smile

What exactly does that mean? Have you also considered the cost of a taxi back and forth from work (are you working split shifts)?

Dear sicklyman,

"sigh"

Passive-aggressive men prefer the deep sigh and shake of the head,

"P-A: (Long sigh)
Victim: “What’s wrong?
P-A: “Oh, nothing important.”
Victim: “It must be important to let out that long sigh.”

But how good of you to point out the irrelevance; there has been a crying need for the Irrelevance Police to step in - although I suppose it could also be said that you added to it Very Happy.

Regards,
John
