Keep in mind that it's really a different job market to Asia.
It's very rare to land anything from abroad unless it's in a really rural area or if you have specialist quals which they happen to need.
Basically, their lack of interest in you from abroad doesn't mean that they wouldn't want you if you were here!

Thanks for the encouragement, I guess they have a different way of doing things over there, seems like they don't use technology quite as much.

Does make it a little more difficult to get information though, without being there, do you know of any resources teaching in Czech? Information on visas, etc.? I do actually want to make sure I'll be able to stay there once I do find a job, since it's possible for laws and everything to change from time to time.

No, it's not about technology; I can assure you that Czechs are quite proficient with technology! It's about schools simply not needing to take chances on anyone sight-unseen; there are plenty of teachers around.

As for getting a work visa, you can google the Czech Embassy in the US for up-to-date info, but here on the ground you will need a school to assist. Unless your Czech language skills are quite good.

Thinking of coming over in late December to check out some jobs. How long does the visa process take? I talked to a friend who got certified there and she said one of the issues she ran into was that the paperwork takes quite awhile in most places in Europe, and it's difficult to find an employer who's willing to wait the required processing time, since they want you to start right away, so that rules out positions that want someone to start immediately.

Don't be afraid to look outside of Prague. Places such as Ostrava, Brno, Opava, Olomouc, Liberec, Teplice, Plzen, Zlin etc...

On the visa process, as a US citizen you have 90 days without a visa. You need to find an employer who will at least help you file work visa paperwork within that time period. So long as the paperwork has been filed, you are usually ok to start working, even if the final visa is not in your hand yet. Your friend above seems to have encountered only some very strict potential employers...
