If you are going to make a claim about unemployment, you might as well use the chart with unemployment data: http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SL.UEM.TOTL.ZS/countries/KR-US-JP?display=graph
The chart that you posted also includes people who aren't able to work or aren't actually seeking work, which shouldn't be included if you are talking about unemployment rates. |

That is labor participation a different unit of measurement. I like it more than UE but you are being silly here is how you reached your conclusion |

Watch the Americans now tell the rest of the world that standardised reporting methods like the ILO methodology don't apply when it doesn't fit the US practice. |

That's labour participation rates, not unemployment. Different things.
And Japan's low labour participation rate is a widely acknowledged problem. It's really a low female labour participation rate. Abe has promised to do something about this as part of his "third arrow" but, as always, I'll believe it when I see it. |

Well, yeah I see it being a hard goal to achieve as well. I do hope it works, as it would force the business culture here to change. Less pointless OT would be great all around.
I feel that if you can't support your family on one salary at 8-9 hours a day, then you need two incomes. Otherwise you have the dad working crazy hours, and all the housework being dumped on the mom.
I agree that the labor participation rate is a good unit of measure. But like everything, it is hard to measure two different countries with it, and be able to extrapolate the data in a meaningful way. Statistics are meaningless with out a way to read/understand them |

You don't have any clue what the ILO reporting standards are, do you? |

I'm sorry that you can't read the question without projecting your own feelings into it. |

Yep, you are not an obnoxious troll, who constantly makes unnecessary rude remarks. Then gets astounded that anyone would think that you are a total jerk for not only doing so, but pretending that you are surprised by any resentment that develops. You are a winner. |

Again, I'm sorry that you missed the point being made and assumed, again, that it was all about you and that you should read your own emotions into it. |
