I recently interviewed with Aeon and have not yet heard back from them (over a week has passed since my second interview). Does anyone know how long it takes for them to get back? Is it a good sign that it's taking them awhile?

I am also wondering about their salary and since I'm planning to go for my Masters after this, I need to save up. Hence, I was wondering if there's a shcool/ organization out there that pay a little more than 250,000/month. I do have work authorization for Japan so there's not need for a visa sponsor. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
kel

Most eikaiwas pay about 250,000 yen/month. Some pay a wee bit more, but not many approach the 300,000 mark. The JET program offers that much, and unless you are lucky enough to get a high school teaching job, I would suggest continuing to look at eikaiwas and perhaps JET. Salaries are not huge over here.

Saving money will take some effort in Japan. How much you save depends on your location, rent, and lifestyle. On 250,000 a month, expect to save US$500/month (unless you have credit card bills and outstanding student loans to pay off). If you want a breakdown of costs, contact me directly.

you need to bug them a little. You should call them back and ask them if they decided yet. Never just wait for someone to call you. IF you want a definite answer, give them some time, and then call them back. And there are schools and recruiting companies that do pay more than the minimum of 250,000. You just have to hunt for them in the Japan Times or on the Net. Or you have a visa you can do extra part time work. And it is possible to save some money here, unless you want to go out a lot and drink or something.
