But I think the pool is muddied a bit when you have a site like New World ESL putting lies about visa and qualification requirements on their website. Certainly most people would give more credence to that reputable looking website than us.

Although it's true that it's easy to look up visa regulations on governemtn websites, there are plenty of countries where it's not only possible, but almost universally done by foreign teachers, to completely circumvent the law. Hardly any teachers in Buenos Aires are there legally.

I think that a thread warning people off this recruiter is fair game.

The only trouble is that it's started off with CFTU lies. TrueBlue, can't you see that by inventing these stories about the recruiter being Hangzhou Helen, you're actually giving credence to New World's (wait for it) scams.

Completely agree.

If it weren't for the obsessive nature of this particular troll most people wouldn't care because the message itself (especially in this thread) isn't wrong.

As you pointed out it could be quite useful if presented in a more sane way instead of appearing like the ravings of a pathological liar.

How about going to the corner with your bowl of cheerios? ESL104 is waiting for you. He has a special treat for you. Maybe it's something in the box!

Sorry to say, but I was not the one to mention the CFTU gents. I made reference to the fact that Hangzhou Hellen - also known by many different names (Hellen Group, Tefl Institute, TEFL academy, China Tefl, .etc) is playing the name game again according to complaints made on other sites. This scam.com post outlines the current trend in blind cloned websites. http://www.scam.com/showthread.php?t=638697 If you read it, you will see that Hellen's newest creations are following this pattern. But since you guys already know Hellen in bad news, I will stick this info on the Newbie section and leave this matter in your good hands. And by the way, yes she is a recruiter - a huge agency with over 50 employees in her main office.

I believe you are, in fact, Hangzhou Hellen.

It's all part of a clever rouse to distract us from your real intention, unionizing all the teachers in China under the CFTU to get as all kicked out of the country and have all the teaching jobs to yourself.

Nice try Hellen, nice try indeed!

Now, does that sound nonsensical and crazy to you?

I hope so.

Now you know how we feel when we read your posts.

Seriously, please don't post those spammy China-related links in the newbie section. That's what the country-specific forums are for, although such spam-laden posts tend to quickly wear out their welcome (along with the poster).
