I registered for this website in 2009 since then I have graduated from University with a degree in Computing and yesterday completed the Celta course so I'm ready for work!
I was looking at Jeddah as I've been told it's more relaxed than Riydah. Any tips on good schools? I want a short term contract for six months, no issues with pay or work visas, medical cover (I need strong pain meds for nerve damage) and accommodation.
I'm a Muslim so I don't think I'll have problems adjusting socially but will of course struggle to adapt having lived in England all my life. |

Unfortunately, with zero experience, an unrelated degree, and a newly-minted CELTA, your chances for employment in KSA, in general, are slim to none. One of the dodgier Saudi contracting companies might hire you if they're desperate to fill a position with a warm body. However, in addition to working for a crappy employer, you also won't have any say as to where they send you to teach. Plus, there are no 6-month employment contracts---the minimum period is one year.
To gain those first few critical years of TEFL experience, look into Korea or China or Russia; you'll have to research if an initial, short-term contract is even feasible. Anyway, you can then revisit the idea of teaching in KSA. But even with three years under your belt, your unrelated degree will only appeal to contracting companies in the Kingdom---and not all of them either. |
