Has anyone heard any news about this job? Any insight into what the atmosphere is like? |

Regardless, working in a situation that's brand spanking new is never a smart idea. |

What are some typical problems that are different from the problems most people complain about on this board? |

Generally, new programs and start ups are fraught with disorganization, long hours, endless screw ups, short tempers, exhaustion, whining among staff/faculty/students, finger pointing, excuse making, yada yada, inshallah... Use your imagination. |

True, it's best to avoid a startup situation, especially in Saudi. I worked at ACK and they went thru teachers like toilet paper. Multimillionaire engineers owned a school and they knew exactly how to extract the most work from teachers and the most money from students.
I must give props to the Aussies for selling vocational education that Arabs want to buy. However, the hard part is quality control which suffers in Arab hands. |

$40-$45K annual salary, plus all the usual benefits American companies in Saudi offer. Think again about the long term effects of low-ball salaries. |
What they offered me is much higher than that. |

Really, I was told the max was $45K back when I wrote this. No differential or other supplements, just the housing, transport, insurance as usual. I'd be curious if they have become more realistic now. |

I'm about to move towards the second stage of the interview process... More to come. Anyone else looking at this outfit? |

I would guess that a minority of companies don't pay in Riyals. Perhaps some military related contracts pay in the currency of their home country.

I assume that Coder wants no posting history to come up in case an employer identifies him. Not a terrible idea, but means that his posts become useless for newbies trying to research employers.

I will be starting with them shortly. I was nervous as well about anything that would be a startup, but once I visited, felt much better about it. They know what they are doing, and I want to encourage others to give it a chance.

I'm looking forward to working for them. |
I was offered a position with them as well, and it does look promising. I don't know if you are from the USA or not, but the health care plan which this program offers is applicable both in the USA and Internationally... |
