No need to post ALL details. I would go by the advice offered above to have a new prospective employer deal with the release letter. You may be screwed and may have to go back to your home country and return, but the new employer may be able to save this one.

It is against the law to charge money for a release letter unless you agreed to it in your contract. Take the emails and go visit your local SAFEA office to make a formal complaint.

At the new job and it is all I expected. The new employer cannot tell me how I am working there. They are being vague and then to my surprise they have a partner who is horrid. I think going home might be the next step cause the job will not release me to anyone I choose and I cannot pretend this position is great. The boss calls me in the office multiple times to ask if everything is okay when we went over it prior to coming and I gave my converns. Then they drill me about my visa and tell me I am illegal if anyone ask he is just my friend. This is all in one day, the apartment has no kitchen and it is clear they just want to make money off me not sure I can pretend as much as they want hours are long. I came to china for public school schedule not a training school so it took alot for me to come here.

So I guess I will make a complaint and see if the school can be forced to give a release letter since in email they said they will

Or pay but I am thinking hard about.

I thought once fired you were automatically released am I wrong in that conclusion.

I came to their job thinking I can do well and get a letter from them but all my paperwork is with the old company so I am back at square one.

Star, is your alias AUSSIE GUS???!??

Follow Nomad's suggestion. Go Home.
If you are really intent on making it here in Chiner, pay attention to the advice you have been given and do it right, assuming you can.

Native speaker? Degree?

If not, figure out how to get it done.
Ugh.

Does it mean you are automatically released if you are terminated?

Can I go home and get another job in china without this release letter after being fired?

They will change me to a tourist they say

Why not post all details? The school should be named and shamed and it's a warning for prospective teachers.

Because the OP is still in the pickle and naming and shaming could have a negative impact on his/her resolving the current situation. Also some teachers prefer to keep their privacy for personal reasons as well as not negatively impacting future dealings with prospective employers who may follow these forums.
