No, because your sponsor/employer handles your ticketing. Plus, if you hold an employment visa, over the remainder of those 90 days, your employer will require you hand over your passport to get your iqama (residence permit) issued. The iqama also has an expiration date, so eventually, it will either need to be reissued or you'll need to exit the country for good. (All departures require your sponsor/employer's approval for processing.)

If you have a 90-day business visit visa or temporary work visa, you need to exit the county before it expires. However, you are free to leave at any time within those 90 days since these visa types are not valid for employment purposes nor lead to legal residency. Your sponsor is responsible for your ticket out of the country unless you plan on leaving KSA without letting others know. In that case, it's your cost.

Thus, prior to the 90-day expiration, you're either:

1) a legal resident (iqama holder); or
2) in-country illegally on an expired biz visit visa or expired temporary work visa; or
3) being sent to a nearby country to get a new biz visit visa; or
4) being sent back home because your temporary work visa is no longer valid and/or the short-term work you were brought in to do ended.

Of course, the big question is, why do you want to fly on a one-way ticket?

Then you don't have the type of visa that leads to legal employment and an iqama. Moreover, if you've been issued a temporary work visa, you'd have a good idea as to when you'd exit KSA because the start and end dates of the visa must be the same as the start and end dates per your work contract. Plus, the sponsor had to show the Saudi government proof they'd issued a roundtrip ticket for you when they initially sent off their documentation for your visa application. The sponsor would retain your return ticket until you're done with whatever it is you're there to do.

Who is the sponsor? Did you ask them about how this type of visa works? Are you already in KSA, for that matter?

How come the contracting company or employer isn't providing the ticket? That's pretty much the way it usually goes in Saudi Arabia. The ticket has to be one way unless you want to pay for a round trip ticket and possibly lose the return trip.

Curbcrawler:

I suspect you're confused about what type of visa you received. If you had to submit your academic credentials, lab tests and a medical exam report, and a criminal background report along with your visa application, then you have a proper employment/work visa, which leads to an iqama. However if your application didn't require jumping through all those hoops, then you either have a temporary work visa or a biz visit visa. I'm thinking you have a 90-day employment visa.

Curbcrawler:

I read your PM; you have an employment visa. However, regardless of how long it took to have your visa issued, the contracting company that employed you is responsible for your airfare, not you. That's the 'normal' way of things. In fact, airfare/ticketing should be mentioned in your contract.

It's still unclear what exactly you're asking in regard to your airline ticket, but you need to take these types of questions up with your employer. They're your legal sponsor and know more about your employment situation than we do. If, however, you feel you can't trust this employer, then perhaps you need to reconsider going through with the job.

For one contract I bought a one-way ticket and claimed the cost back from the employer. I would not recommend that path unless your employer is 100% reliable !

In my case it was a contract with KFUPM and the flight was a cheap one - from Istanbul to Bahrain.

Yes, you can fly to KSA with a one-way ticket. Employers all over the Gulf give new hires a one-way ticket when first arriving. This has been true for me three out of four times, most recently with Aramco (business class...ahem Cool).

Hopefully you are not planning on working for Berlitz. They are the only ones I know that force the employee to buy the ticket.

Berlitz focus on hiring people locally, often on part-time - and illegal - contracts.

Can fly in on a one-way no problem. Done it many times. Company paid me back after I got here.
