Do I need an FBI background check to teach in Thailand?
I have a state background check that was done online (not authenticated). Will this be sufficient?
The FBI website says the expected processing time for a background check is 14-16 weeks plus mail time... Should I even bother? |

MOST employers won't ask. Immigration, labor and the education office won't ask.
For those schools who do ask, a state level check is fine but don't know about an on-line one without authentication. That would be an employer issue.
I wouldn't stress over an FBI check for Thailand.

| You do not need an FBI check for Thailand. Just go into your local police station (where you have lived the majority of your life) and they will type out a letter for you stamp it and notarize it. |

| Local police checks are usually done on the same day and are sufficient for many countries or schools. If you want you can get a State police check which usually takes around 1 week or so. Local and State police checks usually pull up other records from other states as well. |
