I think this just goes to prove that there is no crisis here at all. It's all Western propaganda.

Privet. A late response, but if anyone cares to know, my employer has increased our salaries - not to rub it in or anything if yours hasn't done the same.

Congrats, that's good to hear! Do you know other teachers who have experienced the same fortune?

I know that the teachers at my school and another have experienced the same. Other than that I am not sure.

This is very good news. Thanks for posting.

Would it be possible to get a rough idea of the size of the increase, though?no problem if not.

Oooh, how's this for an offer?

Main Terms and Conditions of IH Moscow (BKC) Contract:
- Salary: from 35650 roubles per month (net) (30 hour-9 month contract) and from 27745 roubles per month (net) (24 hour-9 month contract) I'm speechless! Such a generous salary!
- Length: 6 or 9 months

General teaching contract package:
- completion of the contract bonus - up to 30000 rubles. How about paying a decent salary first?
- multiple-entry work visa, consulate fee paid by the school
- metro passes So there will be large amounts of travelling between schools? That sounds exciting
- shared accommodation. The more the merrier. Although I hope it's not too close to the school. I'd hate to avoid using my awesome metro passes.
- airfare reimbursement
- meeting at the airport on teacher's arrival How sweet
- paid induction period upon arrival Oh good, I'll also be paid when I sit through your exciting introduction to BKC's administrative system.
- paid holidays
- health care
- 50% discount for Russian classes
- 24 hour emergency support line So I can call you up at 4am to help me haggle a decent taxi price?

I was blown away by this offer. How anyone could reject such an amazingly competitive salary and extras is beyond me. I mean, they will actually pay for my visa and meet me at the airport?! This is surely too good to be true.

Dear Most Esteemed Comrades,

I have returned from my assigned mission of squashing wreckers, splitters, and deviationists and I am most pleased to report here from The East that I have been largely successful. I will soon embark on another historical and most important mission to ensure that the Great Greater Far Eastern TESOL Soviet remains free of the aforementioned wreckers, splitters, and deviationists.

To show their great appreciation of the fruits of my labour, my Chinese comrades have paid me well--there are no shortages of sacks of rice in my cupboards.

I serve the people here with great burning ideological joy and fervor in my bosom and the masses are thankful. Because of this, I feel the true respect as I have strived/striven to be ideologically sound to my Chinese brethren in my methodology and classroom management.

TEFLers of the world unite with correct TESOL methodology thinking! Ura! 正确教育方法万岁!

P.S. I will go to The Square tomorrow to pay my respects.

Warmest regards,
fat_chris

I was earning 3 times more money in Shanghai than I am here in Moscow.
I miss Shanghai. I've just heard from my friends still there that the pollution has become horrendous and they regularly have to wear face masks now. It was never that bad when I lived there.
I have to admit that this is probably one of the main reasons I haven't moved back there.

Yeah, no problem. It is about a 35% increase. Considering the IH Moscow (BKC) offer it seems as though the pay increase is not widespread.

Very nice, very nice. Well done.

Though, I am not sure that this will become typical for other language course providers...

I believe that BKC's offer is actually a conspiracy. It's a fake.
By placing that offer on tefl.com they give all other Moscow schools an excuse to keep their salaries at their current rate.
"...but look at BKC's offer. We're already offering more than that, so we don't need to raise our salaries any further."

Surely you've heard the conspiracy theory that BKC, LL et al are all the one company? Back in the mists of time they were all set up by a husband and wife...
