I own a small Jack Russel terrier. I love him to bits and don't want to leave him behind. I have been reading on the forms that it really isn't a good place for pets. Does anyone else have any positive stories?

Ask your dog what he thinks. If wants to join you, and there's trouble you can blame him. |

For starters, did you ask your employer about having your dog in their provided housing? |

You'll need to keep him indoors all of the time except when you're with him otherwise he's likely to be abused (at best). This will mean keeping the a/c on all day of course, not too expensive but an additional cost. ns is right that if your employer is providing housing he may not agree and if you're renting privately the landlord may not agree. |

Unless it's a Saluki, not a good idea. Not a dog friendly environment, |

It seriously offends the culture, and upsets the Khaleeje people; thus it is very selfish of those few who nonetheless bring their animals here. |

It is not selfish unless you force your dog on others. This is a small dog, but they also tend to be very feisty and territorial. If it barks all day when you are at work, that wouldn't be accepted by the neighbors, who will for the most part, as Balquis says, not much like dogs. And JRs may try to take on any feral dog you encounter on a walk... and they tend to run in packs.
I love my dog, but I wouldn't take her over there to spend all day locked in a strange flat alone while one works. The weather is nearly too hot to walk for much of the year. That is what I would consider selfish...
My friends who did it successfully tended to be families where someone was around most of the day to make sure that there was no bothering of neighbors.
Check with your employer. If they say yes, think hard about whether it is fair to the dog.

Thanks for the advice.
I wasn't sure really but now have decided not to take him.
