Hey guys, would it be possible to get a university or high school job in Shanghai based on 1.5 years of experience in China, one year of experience in the United States, a Bachelor's degree in English, and a TEFL certification? I don't have a Master's, unfortunately.

In all honesty the easiest way to find out is to just apply to some and/or check out some job posting from that area and see what the requirements are.

Regulations fluctuate over time and by area so if you know where you want to go just head to the jobs postings and see if you can find something.

Cheers

You don't need a masters to teach in Shanghai, sure the schools there can be a little more picky, but if they started demanding a masters there would be a shortage of teachers.

This is good advice but shouldn't be needed by someone with experience.
Too many posters agonise via this forum.
Test the real world by applying as has been suggested.

Agreed. Be proactive instead of waiting for hit-or-miss responses from others to trickle in.

Mine started Jan 4th or so due to last semester being so long....it'll be "week 5" when I return. I know some other schools that followed this schedule, but for those that don't march 9th would likely be the first day back.

High school is more than possible. I work at one with just a BA and TEFL certificate. I don't know about universities, but I don't think I would advise working at a university in Shanghai unless it was in one of the outer suburbs like Jiading, Songjiang or Nanhui. All of the fun things to do in Shanghai cost money, and universities don't pay much.
