| it sounds like a pretty grave organization to work for. |
A co worker, who also did the BC weekend junkets certainly fits the "undead" criteria. |

Hellishly boring - if you're a zombie this is the job for you.
If you're not you'll become a zombie quick enough.. |

I do proficiency testing annually in a limited time frame. Would cut my throat rather than do it full time (I agree with the zombie remark above), but it's a well-paid occasional gig.
This year, there are some test prep teachers who should really have their fingernails slowly pulled off - they are doing such a grave disservice to their students!
For example, today there was a speaker who had beautifully prepared speeches for which he had a neat range of segues prepared. Prompt: Tell me about holidays in your country. Response, Oh, in my country most people enjoy doing their hobbies. My hobby is jogging....followed by 5 minutes of carefully prepared drivel about his park and how he jogs there. Later, another prompt about a favorite childhood memory, and he goes off on how he met Psy in the park last week.
Sadly, on the one prompt he hadn't prepared, he did rather ok - could have been in intermediate speaker, but there simply wasn't enough evidence to award him the level.
Even worse, I'm sure this guy left the test centre feeling as though he'd done really well. He delivered all his well-prepared lines seamlessly.
Teachers, even if they beg you, please don't prep them this way. It's SO unfair to the students! |

How much does an ielts examiner job pay usually?
I just saw one advertised for 3 hours for 400 RMB which I thought was pretty low. That being said, it would look good on a resume and might be the proverbial "foot in the door" for something lucrative. |

I agree.
I think it's 'bankable' experience in the sense that working for the BC as an examiner has worldwide recognition.
Where it leads I'm not sure.
The problems people have written about seems to affect any international business that sets up in China. Corner-cutting, influence-peddling - you name it.
Maybe other country forums might be a good place to do a search on IELTS/BC?
Would hate to think problems are endemic world-wide. |

I've examined in three countries and it's pretty much standard across the board - around 1000 rmb for 4 hours work for the speaking. The writing usually pays better because when you've been doing it for a while you get faster. |
