I guess I'm old. I get confused if I don't have separate books. Or maybe I'm just an anal retentive autistic. I left Bank of China when they charged me 5 RMB for my debit card without telling me. When I went to cancel my card the told me they would give me 20 yuan to keep the card open...but they wouldn't cancel the 5 yuan charge.

I'm not sure if I understand your question. When I am e-mailing someone, I am asked which source I want to get an attachment from. The picture is an attachment. Don't think we can post pictures or attachments here. I'm not even smart enought to think of a good Avatar. I always hade Nissans back home

[That said, everybody here is rumored to be either a native English speaker and / or an English teacher. Inherent in any of these two roles, but especially in that of English teacher, is the ability to be able to spell and otherwise use English properly. ]

Good point noyb. I'm constantly surprised by the spelling/grammatical errors in posts by supposed English teachers on this forum.

Arioch: Please don't get me going with being charged for ATM cards. I needed two new ATM cards because my old ones got "folded." China Construction Bank charged me 3 kuai, Bank of China 10.

Not that it is much money, but just the idea of paying for a freaking ATM card almost pushed me over the edge.

ITCjohn: Thanks.

With all due respect Comrade NOYB -

The worst insult is not the purchase price for the ATM card ---

it is the 1% charge to use it outside the province of purchase.

Regards,
Comrade MW

Yes, MW, you are right.

FYI, now in Guangdong they charge a fee if you use your ATM card in an ATM machine belonging to a bank other than the one which issued your card.

Of course, it was only a matter of time. They've been doing it in the US for years. What about in the UK or Australia?

Is it in Ordnung to post if I'm not a Party member? I've heard that you need to be in the Party to have any chance of promotion in China; I'm sure that Dragon and MW will be sliding up that slippery ladder imminently.

In Oz, banks have long been regarded as notorious criminals. Non-branch ATM's attract an extra useage fee and branch ATM's charge for more than 10 withdrawals a month.
