So, next week I'm starting a new class and I'm not entirely sure what to do because it's only two students. I am used to large classes of kids, so this one has got me stumped.

I will be teaching two 10 year old boys and their English level is quite low.

Has anyone taught similar-sized classes of kids and is able to suggest some activities or things that have worked for them? I'm just worried because my activities are usually done with more than 30 students so it's a lot easier.

Any tips would be appreciated Smile

Try doing a google search for "tutoring ESL children," or related variations thereof.

There are plenty of one on one and small group tutoring techniques for kids out there. You just need to figure out which ones are commonly used for English language learners.

I worked with two 10 yr. old girls at their home. We did some worksheets, but mostly concentrated on games. We did the ABC song and they had fun competing with each other to see who could do it better. They also loved doing a telephone dialog with actually calling each other-one from Grandma's apartment upstairs.

We did a type of memory game where they could keep the cards, if they knew the English name. One more thing they really enjoyed was the game "I see something blue, etc." The latter was a spur of the moment game since we were locked out until someone came home.

I also made a chart of things they needed to learn and they got stickers when they could do something. This was very motivating.
