Dadayev's mother told Reuters her son could not have killed Nemtsov, and was being set up.

"He served his so-called motherland for 12 years. They threw him into the toughest areas, into the mountains to fight insurgents. He was a model fighter with a heap of state medals," Aimani Dadayeva told Reuters by telephone.

"And for them (the authorities) to use him for their own ends and to accuse him so harshly? ... I don't want anybody to use us for their own ends," she said, in tears.

...one of the men charged over the murder has said he was forced into a confession.

Zaur Dadayev told prison visitors that he was tied up for two days with a bag on his head, and only confessed to the killing so that a friend would be freed.

One of men charged with the murder of Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov confessed under duress, a member of Russia's human rights council says.

Wounds on Zaur Dadayev's body suggested he had been tortured, Andrei Babushkin said after visiting the suspect in prison on Tuesday.

The primary suspect jailed in connection with the shooting death of Boris Nemtsov withdrew his confession Wednesday, saying he had been under duress during his admission and isn't guilty.

Zaur Dadayev told two members of Russia's human rights council that he pleaded guilty after being detained because he was scared. He told Eva Merkacheva and Andrey Babushkin he had been tortured and the well-being of his family and friends were threatened.

Oh, that's right. Silly me. I forgot. It is so much easier to remember who is who when they wear black hats and white hats. Or when I watch Fox news...

The stink on Ukraine is easy to smell when you remember it is Ukrainians angry that the elected government was ousted and would prefer Russia over the coup government. When something backfires it is not always best to double down.

It would have been best, for Putin, to keep this man alive. He was opposition, but what power did he have? What was he going to do that is so insightful that he would be offed for it?

Maybe Pork killed him cause he was gonna talk about the plane (lets leave that to the US executives).

Nothing much, I guess. Anybody who is paying attention and not willfully ignorant (I could name names here) knows Russia has invaded Ukraine. He was just a pain in the ass, but it's possible that the demonstration could have spawned a Russian Maidan. And Obama and Merkel are such cowards Putin has the luxury to kill an ordinary pain in the ass.

So your claim is Putin wanted a US backed coup (sorry maidan) in Russia?

Willfully ignorant? That's a laugh in this thread. Lots of accusations, supposition, media links saying nothing at all, and scaremongering. Nothing that can be described as not ignorant of the facts. As facts are pretty thin on the ground.

That never stopped a multimedia propaganda campaign though...

Attention all Kremlin propaganda mercenaries: Here are you talking points:

"...stress, repeatedly, that if there was anyone with no reason to kill Boris Nemtsov, it was Vladimir Putin and the Russian government."

No mercenaries here. Except perhaps for those posting endless links to dubious media sources...

Dear Sasha,

" . . . dubious media sources. . . "

Avoid redundant redundancy. Very Happy

“This is absolutely impossible in the current Russian system, to carry out such a serious crime or such a serious attack, without the consent of person number one — which is President Putin,” Milov says.
