Okay I am teaching in China right now and got two
ESL jobs during my stay. One is run by an American
and I only make 60 RMB per 50 minutes with 3 hour long sessions.
The job second pays 100 RMB per hour and I am loosing out by not being able to work for them more.
I really dislike the first school and want to quit, but I dont know how to do so as I have no idea what will happen to me. Its basically a garbage contract without a notarized signature with no clauses restricting me from working for other schools or penalties for quitting early listed.
HELP please |

Be honest. Just write a letter of resignation and give 2 weeks notice. You should also tell your other school that you are quitting the first one, just in case. Anyway, just remember that there is nothing harder at first than telling the truth, but the truth will set you free! You may even get a letter of recomondation from the first school. Just be honest!
"Can we tallk?...ok. Listen, I'm not happy. I'll be leaving in 2 weeks because I feel tired and I can work for less hours and more money at another location. I found that I can't put my heart into my work here, so I think it's in our best intrests to let me go." |

Be even more honest and tell us that you are working in an informal manner, with no legal contract, no work permit and no work visa; you pay no taxes and you don't really teach.
You are just offering your pretty white face.
This is a dog-eat-dog world in which those on the lowest rung of the ladder routinely get mauled and maimed. You entered it of your own free will. |

as Roger mentioned, it does not sound like you're giving us all the info. is the first school paying for your accomodations? utilities? visa? do you have a valid work visa? most of the time, money is not what it's all about. |

I hate to sound like ludwig but I really hope 'loosing' was a typo.
Good luck anyway. |

Okay actually I knew next to nothing about the English teaching market in China before getting into it to visit my girlfriend: though I do hold a BA in public relations and advertising from University of Oregon( no easy task if you are at all familiar with the school) I actually care about teaching.
So please cut me a little slack... I'm hardly a pretty white face. The school Im quitting actually offered no assistance of any kind accomodations visa or otherwise, I am doing the mature thing and giving them two weeks notice prior to my departure.
The second school provides all of the above. Thank you for being so accomodating note thick layer of sarcasm. |

Have no fear, 'Ilunga', no one is likely to mistake you for anything other than that which you are. |

Not all penalties need be listed. Unfortunately, when 'e_jorgensen' advises that you "Just write a letter of resignation and give 2 weeks notice", it simply shows just how little he knows. His comment that "You should also tell your other school that you are quitting the first one, just in case", is equally as comical.
If you ever break a contract - whatever the conditions - with an employer in China, they must supply the PSB with your 'letter of release'. If you do not secure this document then you will not be able to begin new employment with any other (legal) employer in that province as your passport-based visa is post-specific.
Perhaps I missed something, but where is the "dilemna" [sic] here exactly?
Also, what do you mean by the "job second"? When employed as an ADJ, 'second' can not take a predicative (i.e., post-nominal) position, but rather must play an attributive role. |
