Hello,
I am looking at doing a doctorate in the KSA through a Western University and have searched for information related to Ethics and Research Permissions Regulations in the KSA but can not seem to find any information.
Western Universities will require either a form a permissions document to be submitted or evidence that this in not required in the KSA.
I wondering if anyone can provide me with any further information or advice here please. |

Maybe you should pose this question to your Saudi colleagues---those who completed their doctoral studies at a western university. |

You’re not providing enough information or details of your particular situation to get a reply that can realistically assist you.
1. Do you mean to say you’re getting your PhD through a “western” university (it better not be Swedish) and you want to enter KSA to do “research”? What kind of research? And why do you have to be in situ to do your research? Are you going to be interviewing the public? Poke around Ministries? Perform a “dig” at an archeological site?
2. There’s almost no chance that you’d be allowed to “enter” the Kingdom and just roam around “doing research” as you might, for example, in France. This kind of thing has to be done at the institutional level as part of an established program (of which I don’t know of any). How are you entering KSA? As a student? A worker? A guest? I don’t think there are any visas for “researchers”.
3. I’m amazed that your professors have agreed that you should “enter” KSA as part of your research and at the same time appear to know nothing of KSA rules and regulations. Are they just leaving it up to you to get this done? If they have any connection to KSA or the Middle East, they should know better.
But as I said, without more concrete information as to what exactly you mean and what your situation is now and will be in KSA, all anyone can do is guess and offer generalities. |
