Hello,
My name is Chris and I am 26 from the UK.
I have a degree (not language specific) and I have alot of experience with children as I am a soccer coach and my degree was the basis of going on to teach.
To date I have no Spanish but I am going to complete a course and my girlfriend is Spanish so I am going to learn.
I deally I would like to move January 2016 and complete the CELTA course in International House Barcelona.
What I want to know is the CELTA the minimum i would require or with a degree, being a native speaker and getting abit of luck would i get a job without it?
Also what pay range am I looking to get? I know im not going to save a fortune but its an experience I am looking for as I have a well paid job at home I can return to.
When is the best time to get work. I read July/January best time to go looking for work but is it possible to get work all year round (apart from summer)
Many Thanks
Chris |

I'd say you do want to get a qualification like CELTA. You MIGHT get work without it, but a lot of language schools will reject you out of hand if you don't have any qualification. And let's face it, would you want to pay for a take a Spanish course taught by someone with no training, no qualifications?
Best time to look for work, September.
Pay, generally poor (don't expect to make much beyound about 1100-1200 euros a month if you're working for most language schools in Spain (and less in smaller cities), but you can top that up with private classes, possibly in-company, which pay more per hour. |

Definitely do the CELTA. Not only will it increase the number of jobs available to you, it will make you a better teacher by giving you more confidence, creativity, and sense of direction in the classroom. As the previous poster said, you wouldn't want to study Spanish with someone who is simply a native speaker but otherwise has no credentials. |

Yes, I agree: the confidence it will give you is SO useful when you first step into a classroom. |
