|
|
I have an unrelated bachelors, a CELTA, and one year of English teaching experience at a boys school in Qatar.
I'd like to teach at KSU if possible, or another university if not. I was given an offer by EDEX in the past, but I didn't accept it. I have heard that the company has pretty much lost its contract with KSU.
Which recruiting companies should I contact to apply for a job at KSU or other universities? |

Employers often ask for a MINIMUM of two years experience. Better jobs in my humble opinion are direct hire. Masters is often asked for but lots of people are teaching on University Prep Year Courses with no MA.
I assume that the OP has personal reasons for wishing to go to KSU. It would not be my first choice. Nor would I recommend it to anyone other than to one of the Bearded Faithful, desperate to be in Riyadh. |

You could/should send your CV to whoever recruits for KSA and see what happens next.
1. You could/should apply to any job adds currently out,
or
2. visit websites of all Saudi Unis/colleges, one by one, and apply through their websites. Not all unis and collegs in KSA recruit new faculty through agencies, quite a number of them still practise direct hire. You may for example use this list of tertiary KSA institutions:
http://en.wikipedia.org
wiki/List_of_universities_and_colleges_in_Saudi_Arabia
As to who recruits for KSU, perhaps somebody else will answer your question. |

you'd stand a much better chance with an MA if you can get one. You don't say whether you are still in Qatar but a couple of years more there if so should give you enough cash to spend on a year's MA program back in your homeland which would set you up with both the experience and quals for a low level uni job in KSA if that's your dream. Obviously, post MA experience would increase both your chances and the level of job you'd get. |

Unfortunately, your qualifications are very minimal, which will only get you offers from companies like EdEx. You can certainly apply to universities directly, but frankly, it would be a total waste of your time since direct-hire positions require a related MA and a couple of years of relevant experience. |

"Recruiting Agency" may not be the correct term. There are sub-contractors who provide workers for Saudi institutions. Typically they deal with cleaners and menial workers but in recent years have branched out into Education.
Company X or University Y wants some teachers so they contact ADAKS and say "We need 12 teachers". ADAKS sends out its Press Gang and gets 12 adults who appear to have a pulse. The deal is that ADAKS bills the customer for a large sum and then pays as little as possible to the new indentured servants who are housed in squalid conditions.
Do not fall for this BS. Go for direct hire. |
