Hi, I`ve read all the posts on GABA but was wondering if its really that bad. Has anyone worked part time for them? Will I get paid on time? Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Well, my flatmate worked for them as his visa was running out and he needed a new one. He worked for them for a while and found the work to be pretty easy (1 on 1 lessons using a pc) but low paid, he then resigned to go for another job and guess what? They wouldnt pay him the 6 weeks of back pay they owed him.

He tried for ages to get it back and in the end went in and started shouting for his money in Japanese outside his old managers office when the waiting room was full of stunned students. His manager relented and paid him his wages out of his own pocket and petty cash, telling him never to come back.

GABA no longer offer sponsorship for employees, apparently because theyre not allowed to as immigration have had so many complaints about them.

Another friend of mine does the morning shift at GABA for 1400Y an hour to supplement his income. He says the work is low paid, easy , and hes mostly left alone. But as they pay in arrears he hasnt had to try and get his back pay yet.

They have fantastic job adverts though!

Thanks for the reply. The hourly wage seems low. Does he get paid on time for his work now? It sounds like GABA is a bit shady. Do I also have to buy a black suit?

Oh, yeah, theyve always paid him on time, but it seems to be getting your back pay when you leave that might be the problem
