Prices are always put up at Eid - very compassionate, huh? Imagine business guys in the US saying "Oh it's Christmas so this tree is gonna cost you $300 and those Chinese plastic lights I'll let you have for $150."

Buy a ticket now (although fast running out) and will be cheaper. I got one to India for 1100SR return.

Dunno where you'll be in KSA but buses to Petra and UAE are an option and dirt cheap. UAE is easy from Dammam/East province, like-wise Petra from Riyadh or Jeddah. You can travel any way you want these days, but as already stated it depends on your visa.

Got mine for this year sort of free with Sky Team miles, which unfortunately I had to join through Air France in my West African rotation days. Why unfortunately, and why "sort of" free? Had to pay $550 in French or EU taxes (round trip, Dubai-Amsterdam-Houston on KLM).

Guess what--last year my United Airlines/Star Alliance award ticket (free ticket from frequent-flier miles) charged only $150 (Riyadh-Frankfurt-Houston return).

What does that tell ya? Tells me I'm contributing to France's socialist workers' paradise and I get nothing in return, not even a good breakfast to buy at CDG.

By the way, AF's tax on award tickets from Houston to Bangkok is more than $600. Sacre bleu! &$*% greedy *&$%#'s. I can go down to a discount Asian-run agency in Houston and BUY a ticket IAH-BKK return for $1100. (And then celebrate across the street with a great Chinese meal.)

In any case. love them miles. As George Clooney says in the closing scene of "Up in the Air,"

The stars will wheel forth from their daytime hiding places; and one of those lights, slightly brighter than the rest, will be my wingtip passing over.

It's not blocked here at the moment (31 March 2015).

Reading this ancient and now resurrected thread I see how many of the old posters have disappeared, almost certainly abducted by aliens.

It hasn't been blocked for years. But using a VPN is still suggested.

Take your pick.

Just google vpn, read reviews, choose 2-3 you want to try and get them (if in Kingdom) via a torrent feed.

If outside, download direct.

blammo.

you're elsewhere.

Express VPN worked perfectly in Oman and UAE...great for all your internet needs. You won't regret it. FaceTime, BBC, articles on apostasy, corruption, politics, all get through along with websites for the one handed. Laughing
