The Chinese staff at private schools may be rife with politics...certainly it's a big rumor/gossip mill on the Chinese side....plus some fairly cloak and dagger tactics...but the western side of the equation, at least at my school, is not that way at all. Perhaps it's the "us vs. the chinese admins" mentality or maybe just because everyone talks with each other a lot during our forced and unnecessary office hours, but the group of western teachers here tends to be very friendly with each other. Especially those of us who have been in China for more than a year.
