Yes, I am starting to agree. It stops them coming back and saying you marked them absent when they weren't and it kills a good 10 minutes of class time. Furthermore if you pull it up first thing and mark them present when they come in they can keep track of it on the OHP and don't need to come and ask you after class how many times they have been absent. I also don't have to bother making attendance forms. What uni are you at or would you rather not say?
