From what I've heard, most of the university positions in Danang are mostly filled by volunteer type teachers who work for almost nothing. There's a few positions that might pay decently, but the volunteers have kind of ruined the market for university teaching.

EFL Volunteer types usually survive by getting a monthly stipend or allowance by their sponsor aka employer to cover the basics...such as food, drink and shelter. Shocked

Many mistakenly believe they are helping underprivileged students who would otherwise be unable to afford a native speaker teacher - but usually they are helping the owners of private for profit universities get richer.

There are volunteers working in the state run universities too - after all when there are people dumb-enough to work for living expenses only why pay more?

Ugh... stupid do-gooders need to stay in their home countries and do good there.

Unfortunately they cannot go home to the WEST...they are unable to volunteer their services there and will also receive no monthly stipend aka allowance from their EFL sponsors for living expenses etc....and most (if not all) EFL volunteers are jobless in the WEST and come to Vietnam as is seen as the new land of opportunity for EFL volunteers! Shocked

What qualifications do you have to teach in a university? This is hardly the place to seek info for that kind of position.

You have an MA, PHD, you're published somewhere?

Because otherwise there are some jobs around where one can actually get paid a salary and benefits to teach at a uni. Check out the RMIT page just below. Despite the issues, the pay and benefits are still quite good for an EFL teacher with the required quals along with sufficient VN teaching experience.

Competition is fierce though.
