I just looked at a job post for China, Shenyang university. Now usually these things are best ignored but I just couldnt help myself.
The climate of Shenyang was described as "moderate" with an annual temperature of 8"c.
Now check out this weather site. (if you are a loser like me with too much time on your hands:)
http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/world/city_guides/city.shtml?tt=TT002090

Ummmmm Is it me or is this stretching the meaning of the word moderate? Mind you when the summer hits an avarge of 31 with 87% humidity and Feb is a body fluid freezing -16 average they do generously compensate you by cutting your pay to a very tempting $130 for the month. Shocked

The ad here on eslcafe for Shenyang Uni of Technology ? The one that says :

The alluvial plain of Liao River in the west is its major topography, while its north-east and south-east parts are low hilly land. It has a temperate continental climate with an annual average temperature of 7.8 degree Celsius, rainfall of 734 millimeters, and a frost-free period of 159 days

??

What does it all mean ? Damned statistics !

However, climate is certainly a very important consideration for a teacher in China and might, indeed, be used as a bargaining point (see my recent whinings on the off-topic forum.)
