Haha, very funny. Interac can lead to places too though, I'm sure there are many successful people who started at Interac.

A fresh out of college newbie can comfortably live on 230,000 yen a month, no problem.

I was having the time of my life when I first came to Japan with Interac. Admittedly, they paid 250,000 back then but I took a loan from interac when I arrived so for the first 6 months I was paying 50,000 back to them each month. I still had an amazing time, lots of good memories.

I work with a couple people that started with Interac.
People have to start somewhere, whether Interac or something else.

I guess when I said "somewhere," I was referring to those who decide on ALT as a permanent career. From what everyone keeps saying here, it doesn't seem to lead to bigger and better things. An internship, while often unpaid, is supposed to give the intern marketable skills that can lead to a rewarding career. This is not to say that rewarding careers can't be made in TEFL, but that a stint with a dispatch company doesn't seem to further the cause so much as degrees and credentials might. An internship is supposed to serve as a stepping stone to something bigger. Don't dispatch companies market themselves to new graduates as a means of seeing the world, much as a working holiday is meant to do? If they are selling themselves as a training ground for would-be TEFLers, I'm afraid a number of people are being sold short. Just my entirely unsubstantiated opinion, which, btw, is as good as anyone else's on an anonymous forum.

True. But for the OP, be careful on how desperate you get looking for jobs here. Yes, you want to come here, but don't just take anything. Esp if you haven't looked into the actual job
