NIT has been emailing me every week for the past 6 weeks, each week it's the same email, starting with dear candidate, they ask for my documents and to fill out the application form. I did this 6 weeks ago but I think I'm stuck in their system as they keep asking for the same documents again and again every week, despite already having them.

For 9800SAR, I would definitely ignore them.

Terrible pay... Is this place linked to Kaplan? Yes, you may as well go to Oman or UAE as that is very poor for Saudi.

If that's the case, and many saying the money is nowhere near the same, is it even worth going to the M.E.? If so, what are the top salaries these days?

For someone with 1-2 years of teaching experience, a degree, and a CELTA/Trinity cert you can get about 11-12,000 riyals per month plus housing allowance with the main recruiters.

NIT is not with Kaplan, but NITI is.

However with NITI i was offered 14400SAR/month (much better pay but they prefer to bring people in on business visas and they have to pay their own way to Bahrain every month). Kaplan said in NITI they are short staffed therefore teachers go beyond their 27.5 contact hours/week (which is already kind of high but they are obligated to do teach 27.5 hours/week). They end up teaching 30+ making near 17000SAR/month with overtime. As teachers end up running after a few weeks/months so the remaining lot get extra pay through overtime. I don't know if I believe they make close to 5000US/month (that's what the Kaplan guy told me on Skype).

If someone offers you 9800SAR, they are short changing you. However that salary is good in Oman, but way too low for UAE.

Also, the notion the Middle East is only good for its money is bullshit (and frankly very rude and disrespectful to the region and its people as a whole). If you're willing to reach out to its people, the Middle East can be one of the best regions in the world. It's depends on your attitude.

Salaries have dropped recently but so what, it's still the highest in the world.

What I posted months ago still applies... I know people still teaching there... The teaching situation there is decent... The guys supervising the teachers are nice people... But the people in the HR dept. are not up to scratch and completely useless...

Of course the salary is integral. What I mean to say is people who ONLY go for the money (and never find common ground with the people or culture) are often those complaining the most. I am talking about Gulf countries.

It's amazing to me how after so many years they still don't connect the dots.

Come here for the money and stay for the people and culture. That way you win-win, instead of the current dynamic of win (economically) and lose (in almost every other way).

They come for the money and fail on other fronts. That's what happens to the complainers. Naturally, they begin to associate KSA with the money, after failing to make nice with the locals.

This is just ONE reason why people working for the same contractor or school have varying experiences.

The point here is don't just come here for the money. Come for the money and everything else as well.
