Your side of it will take from 4 weeks up to 3 months, but will be speeded along with a good visa agent as recommended by plumpy. . |
In some cases it could make the difference between getting a visa and not getting one if there is some kind of complication. It's hard to say. |

| For UK people I would recommend Harley Medical in Harley Street. From going for the medical to getting the visa couriered to my front door took 2 days. All I had to do was show them my degree and copy of the contract etc. I've noticed that for Americans and Canadians it seems to take forever. How long it takes to get an Iguana on arrival depends on the company and the S.A.F. |

I wish I could have gotten an iguana instead of a boring iqama.
Anyway, the iqama processing time is contingent upon 1) how soon the new employee provides his/her Saudi lab tests and paperwork to the HR rep; and 2) how busy the government immigration department is at that time. Obviously, the start of each academic year is the busiest with possibly over a couple thousand new teachers arriving and applying for iqamas (or iguanas). And that doesn't include the number of foreign workers for other professions applying at the same time. |

|

I have had both AL Hussan and ICEAT offering me positions at King Saud University. ICEAT had offered me the year before as well, but I could not accept because I was not in the US at the time. AL Hussan offered me lower pay than ICEAT last year, and I objected, while ICEAT has not made the offer letter yet. I waited for AL Hussan to revise the offer. I then accepted the offer, and explained that I what I had been offered the previous year. They had replaced the guy doing the contract. They then replied, asking for letters of reference and other information to extend the qualifications, and told me that they would see about getting me higher pay when they do the contract.
I am awaiting their response. |

THey did give me an improved offer but it was less than ICEAT. i also asked them questions about accommodations, which they did not answer. I then got back to ICEAT,which gave me their good offer again, and then AL-Hussan wrote back saying that they were not the contracting company for me. I accepted ICEAT.
Now, I need to start the visa process. |

I know Al Hussan starting base in the advertisement is 12750 plus 2750 for accommodation and 600 for transportation.
Now ICEAT has a lower starting base 12,250 I believe, I am unsure about their accommodation and housing. Like Al Hussan though you may have to take company housing anyway in lieu of the allowance if enough other people don't fill up their apartments.
These are for people with BAs, the premium that either company pays for related and un-related MAs is probably different.
We really need to make a website like glassdoor where people can anonymously post their salary and qualification and employer. When enough people post we would have a good idea of most employers salary scales in Saudi. |

Either share a one bathroom apartment with one large room and one small room with someone else or spend some of your salary for a single apartment. 600 for transportation is appalling, considering a 3 km ride costs 13 riyals. The salary might not so great all things considered. You would essentially have to room and share rides with someone, not a very pleasant prospect in Saudi Arabia. Not pleasant at all. With the plumbing in Saudi apartments close to the floor and sewer plugs in the kitchen that are connected, you get the added benefit of knowing every time your roommate uses the toilet |

I am highly experienced with two relevant Master's degrees and about 30 years of teaching experience.
ICEAT: Base salary 16,000 SRs, transportation and housing provided additionally. I am assured by my recruiter that I will have single housing and was provided with its location which in trms of travel time, is not too far away from the PYP center.
AL-Hussan: 12,275 basic, transportation 600, housing 2750. Does not talk about the accommodation when asked for details. DOes not answer when pressed for details about hours and conditions.
ICEAT claims that I will teach 22 hours per week, but may, in a pinch, teach up to 30 contact hours (at least that is what is written), and I may work a total of 48 hours per week.
REcruiter for ICEAT very forthcoming. |

Why are you not applying for direct-hire positions? Generally, you'd get a higher salary, overtime pay, fewer work hours, and 60 days off for the summer. |

Phonologist your numbers are wrong.
I know multiple people with only a non-relevant BA that got an offer of 12,750 base for Al Hussan.
If you have a relevant MA it should be a lot higher.
Al-Hussan may not have the recruiting man power to deal with requests, that's why there's a lack of proper responses. |

Im a little confused.. we know single men with iceat who have got their own appartments that they have chosen themselves. Although, Ive just remembered, at first you stay in their sccomodation.
Also, your base salary is good. And maybe after a year or two, you will get a pay rise. We have been happy with our yearly pay rise with iceat. Also, iceat have been spot on and honest with their hours of teaching. Nice to see companies being honest! |

It sounded to me that's what al-hassan has told him in terms of the wages. |

Applying for direct hire isnt all that easy.
My husband has two degrees in related fields and over 5 years teaching experience and applied for several direct hire jobs over the years. Nothing. So we stayed with iceat and are happy with them, considering the God awful horror stories you hear about recruitment companies. |

If his degrees include a TEFL-related MA, then there's some other reason why he's not been able to get hired directly with one of the numerous universities in KSA. Anyway, if he's happy with ICEAT, then there's no point applying elsewhere. |

And he's not the only one. Their loss. |
