I think all of these details will vary wildly from college to college. It boils down to what most people say here, Is it a good deal for you?
I just want people to know there is another option besides Uni open to both guys and girls. |

| Yes, that figure is somewhat misleading. I interviewed with Pearson and the wage was average compared with other companies/universities. You have to pay for your flights, accommodation, transport and so on. Everything goes into that figure and the basic pay would be fairly standard. Direct flights alone would be 1000 pounds each way on the regular carriers to London. |

So he gets 24,000 Saudi Riyals ( Not Slobodan Grotniks) and out of the he pays for tickets, accommodation and all the rest ?
Sounds like a bum deal.
With a Govt Uni direct-hire contract you would be doing better than that and would also have some security of employment. Plus good vacations during which salary would be paid. |

And this takeover by a German company, is it going to happen as a reward to Pearson, who did such a great job that almost all teachers left, and therefore they have lost the contract?
And the retention rate, especially on the female campus, how high is it??

Currentaffairs pays 2000 pound for a return flight to London?
I think the freedom to do as you wish with the money is better. Are there restrictions on where you can fly with Uni provided yearly flights? Also i'm happy not to be in company provided accommodation.
Pearson decided they couldnt make the business work with the way they are awarded funds from colleges of excellence.
Job security is an issue, even though we were on indefinite contracts. |

| Is security of employment not a factor to consider ? Continuity ? My feeling is that direct-hire uni jobs are most likely to offer medium to long-tern jobs. Not so many teachers are now staying for 10 or 15 years but it would be nice to have the chance to do that. |

| Surely the concept of job security is as tenuous overseas as it is in the UK. It's all sessional, maybe contracts if you are lucky, and private companies in universities calling the tune here. Money has never spoken so loudly as it does now in UK HE. |

I just looked at the price for a flight to Riyadh from London direct with BA economy class in August. It is actually 1200 pounds if you check.
I don't think you could buy a fixed return if you are not coming back until the following summer. An open return would be fairly expensive. Sure, you could fly with a cheaper carrier (like Turkish airlines) and change flights somewhere but not ideal. I would want to fly direct personally. Also, if you sign a contract in May with Pearson and look for a flight in August you are easily going to pay 700 pounds to get to Saudi.. I always told my employer to fly me direct with Saudi Airlines to/from London. |

| Well at least we dispelled the myth that nobody ever tells us the name of the company they work if getting a high salary. But, I still don't know what the base salary is or number of teaching hours? |
